Meeting for Communist Youth Network

Progress meeting for Communist Youth Network took place

In order to make an initial assessment of the progress of the implementation of the Community Youth Network, an exchange took place between the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and youth and student leaders who are involved in various local initiatives.

The headquarters of the Communist Party of Cuba's Central Committee hosted a day of analysis, during which the experiences of the architects of the Community Youth Network were discussed. This network is an organizational framework for young people at various levels, such as the People's Council, the municipality or the province. It is made up of brigades that are driven by strategic axes, including defense, production, communication, ideological training, culture and solidarity.

The meeting took place in the fourth week of work to ensure the achievement of all the planned goals, with 135 meetings already having been held at the municipal level and strategic alliances having been forged with each ministry.

Now that young people have become involved in neighborhood initiatives, there are excellent examples of partnerships with various ministries, companies sponsoring each People's Council, and ongoing efforts to identify the main problems within communities.

Emphasizing the value of the Network, President Díaz-Canel said that the energy of young people would establish a new pace of work in the crucial arena of the community.

Meyvis Estévez Echeverría, First Secretary of the National Committee of the Union of Young Communists (UJC), alluded to the importance of encouraging not only party members, but also the wider youth community, to get involved. A contest is being organized for this purpose, called 'Youth Code', in which new generations can share their experiences of community work.

Yaliel Cobo Calvo, Second Secretary of the Young Communist League (UJC), emphasized the importance of fully engaging in community tasks, while Danhiz Díaz Pereira, President of the Martí Youth Movement, explained that they have recently supported the existing structures of a People's Council. On this topic, President Díaz-Canel told the young people that they act as a catalyst for everything that needs to function within a community.
