On 10 October, pro-Palestinian demonstrations took place in more than 50 cities across Italy, bringing together students, workers, political organisations and solidarity movements demanding an end to Israel’s military operations in Gaza and expressing opposition to the war.
Comunist Front joins protests for Palestine across Italy
The Communist Front of Italy and the Communist Youth Front participated in these protests. In Rome, the main march proceeded from the Colosseum to the area outside Sapienza University. Organisers called for an end to the genocide, an embargo on Israel and an end to agreements supporting its policies.
Fronte Comunista welcomed the previous day’s mobilisations across Italy. The party described the demonstrations as popular mobilisations involving students, workers and unemployed people who did not want to be complicit in war and genocide.
The party’s message went beyond expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people. It argued that supporting their struggle requires the organisation of a class-based response within Italy itself, linking international solidarity to domestic political and social struggles. The message concluded with the call: “Alziamo la testa!” (“Let’s raise our heads!”).
