While a de facto state of emergency continues in the capital city of Turkey due to the upcoming NATO summit, the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) marched to Kızılay Square, centre of Ankara, with the slogan “Down with imperialism, down with NATO!”
Ireland has assumed the presidency of the European Union for six months, starting from 1 July. The Communist Party of Ireland issued a statement regarding this development.
The Piraeus Sectoral Organizations of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE), together with the Piraeus branches of the National Association of Resistance Fighters (PEAEA-DSE), held a commemorative event at the historic Aegina Prisons to honor the communists and other political prisoners who were imprisoned, tortured and executed there.

Speaking at the event, TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan stated, "We will not allow this country to have a NATO Summit in silence."
