Communist Party of Argentina has issued a statement entitled “For a Second and Definitive Independence, Let's build a patriotic and anti-imperialist political alternative” on the 210th Argentina Independence Day.
Communist Party of Argentina calls for second and definitive Independence
The advances of Javier Milei's government with the Super RIGI (a government-backed social security reform), labour flexibilization, and the law on the inviolability of private property, which facilitates the purchase of land by private individuals and foreign states, add to the long saga of surrendering our sovereignty and demonstrate that building a patriotic anti-imperialist front that fights for national and social liberation should not be considered a long-term goal: it becomes an urgent task.
Faced with the radicalization of the United States' plan of domination over our country and the entire region, it is essential to forge the unity of those of us who resist austerity, plunder, and repression, and to dedicate ourselves to building a patriotic, anti-imperialist, and sovereignist front that forms a common political tool with a program, debate, struggle, and a perspective toward social liberation.
The unjust dynamics of capitalism are intensifying, promoting on the one hand the concentration of wealth in fewer and fewer hands and, on the other, the exponential growth of poverty. To open a new historical chapter in Argentina, we must, as a priority, strengthen the unity among the political and social forces willing to refound a nation without tutelage, sustained by popular power.
The struggles we have been waging for the university and public education, against the destruction of wages and jobs, those of pensioners, those of the feminist movement against patriarchal sexist violence, and so many others, lose strength if we fail to coordinate them.
Fighting in unity against rampant austerity and the complete surrender of national sovereignty is an imperative of the present moment. The worrying fragmentation of sectoral demands finds an objective explanation in the extremely harsh material living conditions faced daily by the majority of our people, who remain unable to resolve their practical problems. As an outgrowth of the deprivations and needs experienced by the working class, multiple job-holding and precarious employment are becoming increasingly entrenched.
Added to this is the conciliatory policy of the CGT (General Confederation of Labour) and the limitations and difficulties of Peronism, entangled in its internal conflicts, in being able to take a clear stance against the government in all areas. Furthermore, there is the complicity of a broad spectrum of sectors that claim to be in opposition but have facilitated and continue to facilitate the passage of laws for this government that is starving and betraying the nation. In this way, the crisis of political representation of our people is accentuated and makes the challenges for the left-wing, patriotic, and revolutionary forces even greater.
Faced with the advance of a multipolar world with China as its driving force, the forces of imperial predation, orchestrated by the US and Israel, are displaying their voraciousness with genocidal violence. In this context, we cannot fail to express our solidarity with the Palestinian people, the Iranian people, and all peoples under attack.
At the same time, the fierce imperialist offensive is also being unleashed against our continent with open interference in electoral processes, support for far-right governments, and destabilization of progressive governments. The invasion and bombing of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, with the kidnapping of its president, Nicolás Maduro, and congresswoman Cilia Flores, as well as the threats of military aggression against Cuba, coupled with the intensification of the blockade through a suffocating energy embargo, are the most eloquent examples of the Empire's plans to make Our America its backyard.
In this global and regional scenario, the policies dictated by the Yankee embassy are tearing Argentina apart, turning it into an extractive factory and a base of operations for a military deployment of the United States military forces in the region. The renewed Monroe Doctrine with the Trump Corollary is giving way to a new Operation Condor, which so far is expressed through other methods but pursues the same goals of domination as in the times of puppet and genocidal dictatorships. Against the advances of the common enemy, it is clear that the struggle for emancipation in our country cannot be separated from the struggle for continental emancipation.
The commemoration of our first Independence finds us facing plunder, industrial destruction, layoffs, precarious employment, pensions mired in misery, systematic attacks on public education and health, and the depletion of budgets for universities, science, culture, and countless other state sectors; all this underpinned by an increasingly elitist and exclusionary democracy.
This situation places us before the patriotic obligation to deepen a programmatic debate in the heat of resistance against a government completely subservient to the dictates of Washington, the IMF, and concentrated capital. There is no room for moderation or sectarianism.
From the Communist Party, we believe that this homeland with full equality of rights and opportunities, just and sovereign, this liberated homeland we dream of and fight for, is a Socialist Homeland; the same one our 30,000 detained-disappeared comrades dreamed of and gave their lives for, from their different political traditions.
When the people can't make ends meet, they can't wait until the elections to change history. Let the sound of broken chains be heard again. Let's transform anger into popular power and organized rebellion: let's confront and defeat the sellout government of Milei and his accomplices in the streets.
Let's build a patriotic and anti-imperialist political front in the struggles and advance in unity towards a Second and Definitive Independence.
Not a minute of truce!
Liberation or dependence!
Milei out!
