TKP and KKE laid carnations at Soviet monument

TKP and KKE commemorate liberation day together in Germany

Germany organizations of the Communist Party of Turkey and the Communist Party of Greece laid carnations and flowers at the Soviet monument in Treptower Park.

Despite the restrictions of German authorities banning Soviet symbols around Soviet war memorials during the anniversary of the Great Anti-Fascist Victory of the Peoples, people continue to commemorate the tens of thousands of Soviet soldiers who died in the battle for Berlin.

According to the general decree "Restriction of the common use of public areas and freedom of assembly", published on April 30 by the Berlin police union, the red flag, hammer, sickle and star are also prohibited this year from Treptow-Köpenick via Mitte to Pankow with the pretext of “the great potential for conflict surrounding the Russian war of aggression.”

However, such decrees are not enough to put an end to commemorations. Many parties in Germany, including the German Communist Party (DKP), have announced their programme for liberation ceremonies on May 8-9. On May 8, Germany ogranisations of the Communist Party of Turkey and the Communist Party of Greece together commemorated the Red Army soldiers who fell in Berlin by laying carnations and flowers at the Soviet monument in Treptower Park.
