Portuguese Communist Party parade in Póvoa de Varzim

Many people took part in the parade in Póvoa de Varzim that took place along Avenida dos Banhos, between the Casino and Largo Alto de Martim Vaz, where a rally was held with speeches by Secretary-General of the Portuguese Communist Party Paulo Raimundo and Jorge Machado.

Throughout the parade, the PCP stood alongside the people, giving voice to the difficulties that mark the daily lives of those who work: wages that don't last until the end of the month, rising cost of living, degradation of public services, and social problems that worsen in the face of a policy that continues to prioritize the interests of large economic groups.

According to the Party, after the important victory achieved with the defeat of the Labor Package, this journey reaffirms that struggle is the way to defend rights, achieve better living conditions, and pave the way for a different direction for the country.

The strength demonstrated by the workers and the people shows that it is possible to defeat measures that attack rights and halt the offensive against living conditions. It also shows that, in the face of new attempts to impose setbacks, the response lies in organization, unity, and mobilization.

In Póvoa de Varzim, the PCP reaffirmed the need for a policy that responds to the concrete problems of workers and the general population: through increased wages and pensions, the defense of public services, the National Health Service, and a public, universal, and solidarity-based Social Security system, guaranteeing the rights of workers and pensioners and combating any attempt at dismantling or privatization.

A policy that puts the interests of workers and the people at the center and paves the way for a country with more rights, more social justice, sovereignty, and dignity.
