Leftists and communists protest post-election violence in India

After legislative assembly elections, which resulted in a change in government occurring in three out of four states, there have been several incidents of attacks, beatings, unrest, and arson. The leftists gathered to protest.

Statues and portraits of revered communist leaders were attacked at night, as were communist party organizers and offices. This included attacking and breaking a statue of Lenin. The left parties had called for a procession on May 8 to protest the barbaric attacks on the working class in the name of victory celebrations.

Leftists held a procession to protest post-election violence. Left Front President Biman Basu and other leaders are present. The procession protested against the post-election terror attacks on working-class people and the vandalism of Lenin's statue.

Biman Basu, CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Srideep Bhattacharya, CPI leader Swapan Banerjee, Forward Bloc leader Naren Chatterjee, CPI(M-L) Liberation leader Atanu Chakraborty, and RSP General Secretary Manoj Bhattacharya spoke at the brief meeting that began the procession.

The leaders said, "They will not only destroy the culture of Bengal but will also want to hand over the state to the corporates. Our fight is to save the state. We must organize a protest against this fascist attack in the name of victory."

Srideep Bhattacharya said, "This time in the assembly elections, we had a fight against parties like Trinamool on one side and RSS on the other. After the results of this election, we have to fight again. We have been on the road to fight since 2011. Today, secularism and pluralism are under attack again." He said, "The fight to protect the rights of our people will continue, along with the fight against these fascist forces."

Here is a footage from the protest.

CPI(M) protests false investigations

The police started harassing CPI(M) workers by filing false cases. On Friday, 8th of May, CPI(M) workers staged a protest at Jamalpur police station. It was led by CPI(M) state committee member Ayanangshu Sarkar.

The CPI(M) leadership said that the police have brought CPI(M) worker Mihilal Soren and his family to the police station based on false allegations. The entire family has been harassed. A case has been filed against Mihilal Soren and four-five other CPI(M) workers.

False cases started immediately after the 2026 elections. He said that the role of the police administration is despicable; the undemocratic attitude is clear.

CPI(M) workers at the protest position at the Jamalpur police station demanded the withdrawal of the false cases. CPI(M) leaders have said that the CPI(M) is on the streets to support the demands of the working class; it will remain so.
