KSČM condemns fascist congress

KSČM calls for action against Sudeten German Landsmannschaft Congress

The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia issued a statement about the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft Congress, to be held in the Czech Republic. It will take place in Brno from May 22 to 25, 2026. The Sudeten German Landsmannschaft was established after World War II on the initiative of a group of former supporters of fascist Sudeten politician Konrad Henlein and former Nazi party officials and has questioned the results of the defeat of German Nazism and the post-war order. The Sudeten crisis of 1938 was provoked by the demands of Nazi Germany, that the Sudetenland, a part of Czechoslovakia, be annexed to them, which happened after the later Munich Agreement.

Let's stand against the Sudeten German Landsmanschaft Congress!

The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia calls on citizens to express their firm opposition to the upcoming congress of the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft, which is to take place in Brno from May 22 to 25, 2026. The Communists, together with many other people, consider the organization of this event in the Czech Republic to be a completely unacceptable provocation against our republic and its citizens.

We emphasize once again that the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft, which was established after World War II on the initiative of a number of former functionaries of Henlein and Nazi party officials, has long questioned the results of the defeat of German Nazism and the post-war order. An example of such condemnable attitudes, openly directed against the Czech Republic, are repeated open attacks on the decrees of the President of the Czechoslovak Republic, Edvard Beneš.

We are convinced that the activities of the Sudetenland Landsmannschaft in no way contribute to the development of relations between the Czech Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany, nor between the Czech and German peoples. On the contrary, Bernd Posselt's organization has been fundamentally disrupting these relations for a long time with its provocations, which undoubtedly include the upcoming congress in Brno.

We strongly appeal to the government of the Czech Republic to use all possible means to prevent the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft congress from taking place. However, we draw attention to the fact that many representatives of the government parties were not able to support even proposals to condemn the Landsmannschaft congress, which were discussed, for example, at the level of individual regional councils on the initiative of the communists.

The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia also calls on all patriots and anti-fascists to support protests against the holding of Landsmannschaft events on the territory of our state. These will culminate in a protest rally that will take place on Sunday, May 24, 2026, from 2 p.m. on Dominikánské Square in Brno. Let us together express our clear opposition to the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft and its outrageous provocations!
