Iraqi Communist Party: Together to build a broad popular political front to end sectarianism and corruption

The Central Committee of the Iraqi Communist Party discussed developments in the political situation in the country and the region, the outcomes of the formation of the new government, the escalating crisis of the quota system and corruption, the repercussions of the economic and social conditions on the lives of citizens, as well as the party’s political, intellectual and organizational tasks, and the ongoing preparations for holding its twelfth national conference.

The Central Committee reiterated their condemnation of the US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran, warning of its catastrophic repercussions for the region's peoples and their security and stability. 

They also affirmed their unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples in the face of continued brutal Zionist aggression, emphasizing the need to keep the region free from wars and escalation, and to guarantee the right of its peoples to live in peace and security, in freedom and democracy. 

They stressed the importance of responding to the will of the Palestinian people to end the Zionist occupation and establish their independent national state on their land. 

Furthermore, they reaffirmed their solidarity with the people of Sudan, its national and democratic forces, and their struggle to end the disastrous war, establish peace, and achieve a democratic national civilian government.

The Central Committee expressed the party’s support for the struggle of peoples, political forces and organizations, communist, leftist, democratic and progressive social movements, and for strengthening global solidarity for peace, for a world free of wars, against oppression and human rights violations, in the face of terrorist organizations, extreme right-wing movements, racism, fascism, wars of aggression and imperialist interventions, against globalized capitalist hegemony and unbridled neoliberalism, and the tendency toward militarism and the instigation of armed conflicts that threaten global security and peace.

On the national front, the meeting discussed the implications of forming the new government and the accompanying political context, which reflected the depth of the structural crisis within the existing system of governance based on sectarian and ethnic power-sharing. This system continues to control the course of the state, its institutions, and its political and economic decisions. 

The meeting concluded that the formation of this government occurred within a complex phase, one in which the realignment of internal power dynamics intersects with regional and international shifts, most notably the escalating US-Iranian conflict and its direct repercussions on Iraq.
