The work of the National Council of Hadash concluded after the completion of the election of candidates for the first six seats on the Front’s list for the Knesset, following successive rounds of voting that determined the composition of the list. Hadash (Democratic Front for Peace and Equality) is the front organisation led by the Communist Party of Israel.
Hadash elects first six seats on its Knesset list
Dr. Yousef Jabareen was elected to the first seat and as the head of the Hadash list for the Knesset, Jafar Farah to the second seat, Dr. Ofer Cassif to the third seat, lawyer Yousef Atawneh to the fourth seat, Nihaya Washahi to the fifth seat, Iyas Natour to the sixth seat.
More than 900 delegates attended the Hadash National Council.
The council honoured fellow Knesset members Ayman Odeh, Aida Touma-Suleiman and Mohammed Barakeh for their service in the parliament.
The council opened with a speech by the Vice President of Hadash, lawyer Nakad Nakad, followed by a statement on electoral systems presented by the Secretary of Hadash, Amjad Shabita, and a political statement by the Secretary General of the Communist Partyof Israel, Adel Amer.
Hadash is having progress in preparing for the upcoming elections, which it considers a fateful battle against the fascist right and its plans to deepen the occupation, fascism and racism in the country.
The National Council is the largest and most comprehensive electoral body in terms of representing the Arab community and Jewish democratic forces, with 966 delegates.
Hadash also affirmed that the meeting of the National Council is not only an internal electoral event, but also an opportunity to mobilise fighting and militant energies, and to enhance political and organizational readiness for the upcoming electoral battle, in a manner befitting Hadash’s role, history and status in the struggle for peace, equality, democracy and social justice.
Legislative elections are scheduled to be held in Israel by 27 October 2026 to elect the 120 members of the parliament.
