Communist Party of Bangladesh protests violence against women, rape and murder
At the rallies, CPB leaders said that it is the government's responsibility to stop the continued violence against women, rape, and murder. The culture of impunity must be ended and the continued violence against women and children must be stopped.
CPB Central Committee General Secretary Abdullah Kafi Ratan, CPB Dhaka Metropolitan North General Secretary General, addressed the protest rally in the capital, held under the chairmanship of CPB Central Committee President Sajjad Zahir Chandan.
In his speech Chandan said that there is no sign of abating the incidents of violence against women in the country. He said that true women's liberation is not possible unless the capitalist social system is broken and a society without discrimination is established. He called for a continuous struggle against violence and oppression of women.
Abdullah Kafi Ratan said that despite the change of government, the rate of violence against women is not decreasing. The recent incident in Sitakunda has stunned the entire country.
Luna Noor said, incidents of misogyny, torture, oppression, murder and rape are not stopping. Just as there has been a movement against the incidents of Yasmin, Tonu and Manik, progressive forces have struggled at every time. She said, progressive forces and patriotic people must unite in the fight against violence against women. Because there is a relationship between power and rape.
Violence against women has been increasing in Bangladesh in recent years. In a month, incidents of violence against women have been occurring continuously in different parts of the country, but the government is not taking effective and strong action against these incidents.
